National Waiters Day

On Tuesday 16th May, 300 waiters took part in the Waiters' Race at Hyde Park, London for The Springboard Charity’s fifth National Waiters’ Day!
The flagship Waiters' Race was among the activities that took place nationwide for the campaign, which aims to change perceptions on roles in the hospitality industry. A team of hospitality experts from HIT Training attended to advise employers and their staff about apprenticeships in the industry.
Anne Pierce, Springboard’s chief executive, said: “National Waiters’ Day is all about promoting careers in food, drink and front of house roles throughout hospitality - from baristas to sommeliers; maitre d’s to casual dining staff; bartenders to mixologists and waiters.
“It’s about showcasing talent, what’s involved in each role, how people can start and progress great careers and work for some great employers.”
National Waiters’ Day, founded by general manager at Galvin at Windows Fred Sirieix - pictured with the HIT team above - was also supported by a social media campaign, with the hashtag #NWD2017.
