Carluccio’s launches new apprenticeship programme

Italian restaurant chain Carluccio’s has teamed up with HIT Training to launch an innovative new apprenticeship programme across its restaurants in England.

The training programme, which will support more than 80 apprentices each year, has been created to develop and train staff from across the business, to equip them with the skills to carve out a successful and longstanding career in hospitality.

Made up of 80% learning on the job and 20% online work and participation in specialist masterclasses, the training has been meticulously designed by the team at Carluccio’s and HIT to ensure it fits exactly with the culture, demands and requirements of being a Carluccio’s team member.

With the support of HIT, the restaurant chain is offering staff the choice of three different year-long apprenticeships covering Hospitality Team Member Food Production (Level 2), Hospitality Team Member Food & Beverage Service (Level 2) and Hospitality Supervisor (Level 3).

Suzie Brown, Training Consultant at Carluccio’s, said: “We are committed to offering our people learning opportunities in an environment that is as passionate about their development as it is about our guests & our food. We understand that to get the best from our team, we need to support them in developing the skills they need to build a career that’s right for them. By launching our apprenticeship programme with HIT Training, we want to create as many opportunities as possible to keep our talented team with us and in the hospitality sector as a whole.”

Jill Whittaker, Managing Director of HIT Training, commented: “We’ve worked closely with the team at Carluccio’s to construct a development programme which is truly unique. By incorporating the new apprenticeship standards – which ensure training meets the requirements of the employer and individual job roles – and aligning the scheme to current training at Carluccio’s, it will help to lessen any skills gaps, upskill and develop talent for the future. Bespoke, high-quality training plans such as this, are a fantastic way to aid recruitment and retention – a challenge which businesses across the sector face daily.”
